To design a video wall in a remote operation center is a really hard topic. A lot of engineers believe they are right, and probably you will discuss about what Kpi your team must look.
But, Are we sure about indexes to follow for achieving goals? It has been considered that all your workers are not near of machines, trucks, rock hammers. How can we encourage them?
Let me tell you our experience in Andina Mine. Maybe is obvious but first you have to show your program tons per shift. Not all companies do it. It can be possible because you lose your path and you start to control hours driving, number of hammers, petrol, wheels, etc. All of them very important, but they are not your real target. Those Kpi will help you catch your objective.
Show the aim, always. Workers must know and feel it every second.
And after? Ensure the processes that give you the possibility to achieve your tons. In our case we control our mineral transport level, 50 meters under our production level (Lhd Layout) by controlling in real time the utilization, availability and your performance. To draw this in front of your tele-operators will provide the necessary emotions to reach the planning production.
Something more? Remember that our mine doesn’t have stockpiles. We have to know if the mineral processing plant is working. That will give us the knowledge to speed some activities or to plan others.
What about water into the mine? do you have enough? and ventilation? Many things you can add, but the important is guide the energy of the people.
